As a faith community, we are a Kingly people. We serve and share.
Reaching out to the needs of our neighbors is all part of the way the Church makes disciples. Whoever we are, wherever we may be, whatever we do, mold us to become instruments of God’s plan for His creation. Our Parish is blessed with teachers and learners, leaders and followers, preachers and listeners, donors and beneficiaries, friends and families.
What God has blessed us with, we need to share in justice -- justice understood not so much in terms of dividing the pie into equal shares but dividing the pie according to one’s needs.
In the course of our daily lives, we touch someone’s heart and mind and lead the person to acts of kindness and mercy.
Small Faith Communities: The goal of our parish journey is to become formed in Smal Faith Communities which is pastorally managed through zones.
Bethesda: The Ministry of the Sick and Homebound caters to the needs of the infirm and elderly of our parish community, as they are not able to join in the communal Eucharistic Celebrations. The Ministry prepares and organizes a quarterly Anointing Mass for the Sick. To effectively meet this challenge, the ministry hopes to expand its program by inviting more people with a spirit of compassion, a commitment to faith, a listening ear, and a heart of love to join.
Vocation: This Ministry encourages and supports young men and women in answering God’s call to the priesthood or religious life.
Bereavement Ministry: A Ministry that provides comfort and warmth to the grieving of our community. The Ministry is the HAND OF GOD working its way to the weeping heart. A Bereavement Minister facilitates the many facets of funeral configuration in terms of liturgy preparation, rosary scheduling and mortuary connection.
Food Bank: The parish looks after the nourishment of the spirit as well as of the body. Our parish community is encouraged to bring non-perishable goods every 4th Sunday of the month. These non-perishable goods are temporarily stored at the food bank and are given to needy families of St. Lorenzo Ruiz Community. It also serves as an outreach to help poorer parishes and institutions in the surrounding area.
Religious Mobile Library: It is the intent of the Parish to establish a religious bookstore. The mobile library facilitates this endeavor by making available religious articles and books for sale to our parishioners every Sunday.
Cancer Support: In the spirit of wounded healers, a group of cancer survivors was formed to provide comfort; strength and support to those stricken with cancer and those who have lost loved ones through cancer. The gift of presence while one is most vulnerable makes all the difference.
OUTREACH
Zone Committee: In an effort to be an evangelized and an evangelizing community, the Parish has been demarcated into pastoral zones. The goal of this committee is to embark on an aggressive registration campaign of both registered and non-registered parishioners. There is a need for re-imagining a culture not only belonging to a parish but to a smaller community called Zone (neighborhood). This facilitates the growth of small faith communities.
Blood Drive: In response to the call of the American Red Cross, a drive inviting parishioners to donate blood is done once a year or as the need arises.
Rosary Makers: This group makes rosaries for our sacramental programs, our students, our soldiers, and other organizations for the purpose of promoting devotion to the Rosary.
Tai Chi: Tai Chi Team was initially organized at St Lorenzo Ruiz Catholic Community to enhance the physical and mental fitness of its members, to encourage fellowship among ethnic groups, and to be of service to St. Lorenzo Ruiz Community. The group is actively involved not only in its regular class exercises but also in its participation in a number of parish events.
Donut Ladies: These groups of dedicated elderly provide hospitality by serving donuts and coffee after all masses.
Peace and Justice: This Program provides social services to the poor, to those who work for, and those who hunger and thirst for justice, which are all in line with our Catholic social teachings.
