St. Lorenzo Youth Ministry, or SLYM as it is most commonly referred to is comprised of teens who are interested in learning more about their faith through fellowship, friendship, and fun. Our weekly youth groups are based on the specific gospel reading from each week and while we make sure to incorporate time for fun, our main focus is preaching the word of God on a level best understood by teens. St. Lorenzo Youth Ministry has been dubbed the “model ministry” by churches from all over Southern California because of its vibrant and unwavering energy not only for our faith but for each other. That is what makes St. Lorenzo Youth Ministry so unique. Their faith is what keeps them bonded and that’s something that can never be taken away from them and it’s something that each member of SLYM holds near and dear to their hearts. SLYM is a family unlike any other. The relationships formed all have a common denominator, and it is the greatest common denominator of all...GOD.

Thank you for supporting St. Lorenzo Ruiz Catholic Church, especially during this coronavirus pandemic. Because we cannot celebrate public Masses, we don't have our main source of income - the Sunday collection. Therefore, we are especially grateful for those who are continuing to support our parish in these ways;
We will be praying for you all, especially those who are most vulnerable and those who are in the frontlines risking their lives everyday as they selflessly care for the sick.
Let us keep the faith, trust in the Lord and be safe.
With so much gratitude,
Father Tony

As we celebrate the vigor of youth in our children, we wish that they grow in love and service of God and neighbor and become dedicated and generous leaders in our community.
Teenagers have an apostolate of their own and we wish to inspire and inform them through educational and recreational projects and other activities. the youth maybe the best influence to their peers but they also acknowledge the role of the adults, their parents, teachers and preachers as they assist and guide them in their spirtual, personal and social development and other undertakings.
May the ace of the parish be a reflection of the enthusiasm and vitality of the young people.
"As a faith community, we give special care to the YOUTH of the parish"
Amazing Encounter (AE)
Teens embark on a 3-day retreat each year, focusing on their relationship with God, families and friends based on the virtues of Faith, Hope and Love. So well recieved is this retreat that a significant number of teens volunteer each year. From this journey they come back renewed and rejuventated in their faith. Since 2007, the St. Lorenzo Youth Ministry has had over 500 teens participate in the AE Retreat.
Rosary on the Beach
Group of youths that hit the beach for a day of fun, friendship, and faith. Participants partake in various games anbd activities which include scavenger hunting. At sundown, they gather around the bonfire to pray the rosary and sing songs of praise and worship. Rosary on the Beach is an annual event of St. Lorenzo for the Youth Ministry which takes place during the summer.
Coffee with Christ
End-of-the-summer event showcasing the many talented individuals in our Youth Ministry. It begins with the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and culminates with performances ranging from singing and dancing, to skits and magic acts.
Spirit Games
This takes place at the nearby Creekside Park where different ministries from around the area join for a fellowship and friendly competition of various sports. Barbecuing, singning praise and worship songs, and, most importantly, celebrating Mass as one family are the highlights of the day.
