Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist (EME): EMEs are called in a special way to assist the priest(s) in the distribution of Holy Communion. An EME’s willingness to serve reflects not only a response to his baptismal call to serve the people of God but also to show a commitment to Christ in sharing, preaching, teaching and leading the aspects of church life. In offering the Eucharist and recognizing the Body of Christ to the faithful, an EME ultimately acts as the Body of Christ because of his full participation in parish life as he relates and emanates Christ to a wider community.
